The Story of
Johann Jakob Steinhauser

A young man from the Lutheran town of Butzbach in Hesse who emigrated to the Victorian goldfields in 1855. His sister Elisabetha Apollonie remained in Germany and married Conrad Fischer — and it was through her son who emigrated to the US that DNA connections between Australia and the US confirmed the Steinhauser family origins in Germany.
