The Frederick Toomer Line

The Ancestral Home of Frederick Toomer

The Dashwoods were woodsmen living at Mapperton in Almer parish; the Toomers, carters and labourers at Winterborne Anderson. Frederick Toomer was the son of Charles Toomer and Elizabeth Dashwood. They spent eighteen years moving: Zelston, Whitchurch, Holton, Cattistock, back east to Bloxworth before Charles died aged 43 and the parish tried to move his widow and five children on. Elizabeth won and brought up her family. Her son Frederick went to Australia.
